Fontanelle Cemetery and Rione Sanità

The Fontanelle cemetery (in Neapolitan 'O campusanto d' 'and Funtanelle) is an ancient cemetery in the city of Naples, located in via Fontanelle, in the district of Rione Sanità, an ancient district of Naples. Called this due to the presence of water sources in remote times, the cemetery houses 40,000 remains of people, mostly skulls, which in Neapolitan are called "Capuzzelle" of the victims of the plague epidemic in 1656 and cholera in 1836.
